Navigating the world as an Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) often means having to endure multiple forms of prejudice. The obstacles AAPI communities face can strip people of their agency and leave them feeling burnt out and lost. Obstacles like systemic racism, discrimination, and microaggressions that make it difficult to feel connected in our daily lives.

You may find yourself:

  • Feeling like an imposter in your work, school, and home
  • Being objectified by others
  • Negotiating different beliefs than your family and friends
  • Experiencing burn out and anxiety in your day-to-day life
  • Having mixed feelings on the term “model minority”
  • Struggling to feel safe in the context of anti-Asian hate experienced by yourself, your family, and your community

My practice as an Asian American therapist looks to acknowledge and resist anti-Asian racism to make room for who you are outside of what other people say. Therapy with me can help you move forward proudly in a way that both respects the histories of the generations before you while honoring your own needs and desires.

Therapy with me may look like:

  • Providing a space where you can talk about your experiences as an AAPI individual without judgement
  • Exploring who you are outside of what society has labeled you
  • Recognizing the ways that society has used your identity
  • Building your ability to navigate and create community with others
  • Listening to how immigration and orientalism affect you
  • Celebrating the cultures and histories that make up you and the people in your life

Queer and trans AAPI people often have to navigate multiple barriers to come into themselves and advocate for their rights. I provide affirmative therapy that holds space for all of the emotions and stories that come with your experience. Whether this is through individual, family, or couples and relationship therapy, my goal looks to relieve the fear, the anxiety, and the doubt that has hurt you. Therapy with an affirmative provider who is trained in serving clients with Asian and Pacific Islanders can help you address these issues, or any other life stressors you may currently be facing.
