I work to make the unconscious conscious and shine light on the shadow aspects of our personalities, so that we can be more truthful with ourselves and others.

Leigh Huggins

I serve adults and couples and I work from an affirmative psychoanalytic lens, with the aim of exploring the hidden truths we all have that are based on early childhood relational patterns. I have always been inspired to find the truth, to look for deeper meanings, and to make the unconscious conscious, because I believe that this allows people to live more authentic lives full of integrity. Exploring the hidden stories of your psyche can help you understand the roots underlying your current struggles, and once you understand them, then you can become empowered to choose whether or not you want to change.

What is working with me like?

My approach is affirmative and social-justice oriented, meaning that I always take into account the context and systems that may have impacted or are currently impacting your mental health. I am passionate about helping clients with marginalized identities feel safe and held in whatever they may be experiencing, with the goal of healing old wounds that may still be affecting them as adults.

My community and clinical work leaves me especially attuned to working with:

  • LGBTQIAPK+ people reckoning with minority stressors
  • Queer women unlearning internalized oppression
  • Activists experiencing burnout or hopelessness
  • Adults with complex grief and bereavement
  • Couples seeking to break generational cycles of trauma

Through exploring the relationship between client and therapist, we can begin to unpack the relational patterns that keep you stuck in old ways of thinking and feeling. You may feel that no matter what you do you can’t sustain a healthy relationship, platonic, familial, professional, romantic, or other. By focusing on how the past seeps into the present moment between us, we can rewrite the stories we hold in our DNA about what love is, who deserves it, and how to give and receive it. Together, we will identify and work towards goals that can help you to feel more secure, free, and confident in your worth and contributions to the world around you.
